Samos is one of the greenest and most beautiful islands of Greece. Apart from the peaks of Mount Kerketeus the rest of the island is covered by lush vegetation. Dense forests, olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees cover almost the entire extent of the heights of the mountains to the coast.
The island, which has a population of 32.977 inhabitants it's capital is Samos or Kato Vathi, with 6,251 residents, and second largest city is Karlobasi with 6,869. Other significant settlements are Kokkari, the Pythagorean, the Marathokampos.
At the river one can start to visit the waterfalls. The waterfalls are the river water that falls from above and forms a small pond. The Heraion Heraion of Samos Samos is located 3 km west of the Pythagorean and is dedicated to the goddess Hera. Tunnel The tunnel is two miles from Pythagoras in ancient tunnel mentioned by Herodotus as a double-edged trench. The cave is located at the foot of Pythagoras Kirk and according to the tradition, resorted to hiding the philosopher Pythagoras. The Archaeological Museum of Samos is housed in two buildings. The old museum in 1912, called Paschaleio archaiofylakeion and the new museum.
